The government have decided that those who are blacklisted from National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) can now be eligible to take housing loan. The borrower will not be blacklisted even though Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS) shows non repayment.
According to Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin this was one way to help young people to secure housing loans.
What do you think? I do not really support this. It’s like telling youngster you can borrow for education and you need not pay back. What will become our society? Youngster should be thought that they must repay anything that is borrowed. What is the chances of loan repayment to default when there is a history on non-repayment of PTPTN loans.
The last system I do support. If you want to borrow for housing loan but default in PTPTN loans, you just have to update all late payments with interest with a letter to clear your name. Show this to the bank and they will approve the loan.
There are many ways these people can make the extra money to pay for the loan. It needs a little extra hard work.
